System Analyst – London

Skills and experience:

  • Legal finance systems background
  • Management of 3rd Party suppliers
  • Incident management
  • Project management
  • An understanding of accounting systems, and how the multi-company, multi-currency paradigm work
  • Strong analysis and technical skills around report writing and troubleshooting of application issues
  • Education to a degree standard or equivalent, minimum requirement A-level standard depending on career experience
  • SSAS, SSIS, T-SQL to an advanced level
  • Core Elite Enterprise data structure knowledge
  • Business Intelligence
  • Reporting Services
  • E-billing expertise
  • Accounting qualification preferred

Description of work:

  • Responsibility for the support and maintenance of the Elite and ARCS systems (from a user support perspective), in liaison with Technology and Elite/Minisoft Support
  • Maintenance of the Elite Front End system ie user level
  • Have the appropriate Elite ‘Back End’ skills that are required to investigate and chase down problems as they occur
  • Producing client and custom reports (using SQL and Excel) as well as creating custom tables/data-marts
  • Assisting in the development of Elite and ARCS – Testing new processes and preparing documentation
  • Data integrity – Trouble-shooting, daily balancing, month-end and year-end procedures
  • The month end workload is allocated and shared amongst the team on a rota basis
  • Regular client reporting and ad-hoc reporting. For example, building Reporting Services reports using MDX and maintenance of the online reporting security model
  • Elite system set-ups – new offices, new staff, amendments etc (including Webview)
  • Communication with finance staff, fee-earners, partners, and senior management – not only in London, but globally
  • As part of this role there is the possibility that the incumbent may be required to work at any of the Firm’s overseas offices
  • Provide cover for the User Support/Administration role, and to share the month end workloads
  • The incumbent may take on mini projects from time to time
  • This will involve attending project meetings and working with other departments in Finance and Technology as required in relation to the projects concerned, keeping the Processes and Systems Controller regularly informed of progress and developments
  • Attend training from time to time, both in terms of technical training and personal development
  • This may be product related eg Billback, or cultural/soft skills training
  • Where it is appropriate, propose solutions (or improvements) for future and current report requirements using any of the existing software tools, and where necessary, involving Technology for complex programming requirements
  • Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services
